I’ve seen the Venus flytrap plant on television and in books and have always thought of them as quite unusual looking, almost alien, so when I saw this plant for myself I was quite excited and dare I say a bit creeped out! The sharp ‘teeth’ look ready to clamp shut on anything that gets close enough and as tempting as it was I managed to keep my fingers away.

Zingiber spectabile
This plant is called Zingiber spectabile or beehive ginger and the interesting yellow, round leaves all the way down helps keep its upright and solid. I like how the pale yellow contrasts against the dark green backdrop making it really stand out.

Lilies
I recently left my job and as a parting gift my old work colleagues gave me a card with some lovely messages, a gift card to buy something nice with and these beautiful lilies. I managed to get them home on the tube in one piece (although I did poke a few people with the long stems), and they’re now sitting on the kitchen table brightening up the room.

Caught snapping
My sister and I went to a wedding recently and when we went for a walk I saw these pretty flowers that I just had to photograph. Little did I know that I was also being snapped!
