Horizons

I’ve been thinking about broadening my horizons recently and to get more feedback on my photos, hoping to improve on my skills. In light of this and after much thought, I have joined Instagram, seeing as it’s a platform specifically for photos. You can find me under the ‘everyphototunity‘ tag or you can continue finding my photos here. Any feedback or comments on my photos are welcome as well as any tips that you think would be useful.

Elephant parade

On my travels around London I often spot interesting and quirky pieces of art work, and one I came across recently was an elephant dressed in a Mayor’s outfit. I remember a few years ago lots of these were decorated and then placed around London to be auctioned off, and in recent years, in the same vein, there have been eggs, bears and phone boxes. I love the idea of taking a generic mould and personalising it in a creative and fun way to raise money for charity.

Over the years here are others that I’ve spotted, all decorated beautifully.

As this seems to be a popular and fun way to raise awareness on important issues, I look forward to seeing what comes next.

Crocus

One of the first flowers to bloom in early spring are these pretty crocuses (or croci) which can be found growing in woodland areas, bringing a carpet of colour to the landscape. The bright purple petals with sparks of yellow peeking out always bring me cheer on a dull cold day.

Spring in St Christopher’s Place

It’s starting to feel like Spring has arrived in London and in particular in St Christopher’s Place where a creative installation of 1200 ‘floating’ flowers has been brightening up the street.

As well as the flowers hanging over the street many of the shops have also been creating displays to fit the the theme of the event.

On a bright day like today it was lovely lunchtime stroll and a much needed break from the office. For those of you interested in going to visit you’ll have to be quick as the exhibition is only around for a few more days.

Almost good enough to eat

These pink delicious looking objects may look like cakes or sweets but are in fact soaps. They really look good enough to eat but I’m sure they wouldn’t taste very nice, so perhaps not.

Bloom

The weather here is getting milder and the trees are beginning to blossom in anticipation of Spring. I look forward to seeing more buds blooming in the coming weeks bringing much welcomed colour after the cold winter months.

Sparkle

I love sparkly things, and these beautiful necklaces really caught my eye. The pretty colours and intricate designs were really tempting, making me want to buy everything, but thankfully I was able to resist.

Mother’s Day

It’s Mother’s Day in the UK today, a day for kids to show their love, appreciation and to spoil their mums. My mum got really spoiled today with beautiful flowers and pretty gifts from all her kids and grandkids. Hope all mums out there are enjoying the day and making the most of being pampered.
