This lake is in a local park that I visited recently, and with the weather so sunny and bright it made the lake look really pretty. I was tempted to take a boat out but thought better of it, as knowing me I’d probably fall in!

My younger sister had a lovely baby girl today and I can’t wait until they get home so I can see them both, especially my little niece who I know will be bright, beautiful and fun just like these flowers

Glass bottles
I recently went to a fair where many of the stalls were selling lovely things. Among them I found these slim glass bottles with a blue-green hue. They contain perfume oils, also known as attar, which is a traditional Arabic scent that is concentrated so you only need to apply small amounts. I didn’t buy any but I thought they would make for an interesting photo
Sprouting seeds

I like how each of these striped seeds are working together to push out from the ‘skin’ that encloses them.
Can anyone guess what plant these are from?
Update (11/06/14): These seeds are from spring onions plants. The onion bulbs grows beneath the ground but the seeds develop at the top.
Well done for those who guessed correctly and good try to others who had a go!

Washing out blue
I always find it fascinating that clear water, when collected en mass is seen as blue in colour. This image shows exactly that; water up close is transparent and as soon as the water begins to wash in and out in waves its appears blue

Forever blowing bubbles
Recently I came across a post on the internet about a photographer called Richard Heeks who photographed bubbles. This has been done before and done well so what can be done differently or better? I didn’t think a lot. I was wrong. The images that Heeks has produced are amazing, with vivid colours, fine details and really interesting angles.
Heeks’ images inspired me to have a go myself, so I asked my sister to blow some bubbles while I tried to capture them with my camera. My best results are below
It’s actually harder than it looks, what with trying to keep a floating bubble in view and trying to capture it before it pops or lands on the camera lens (making for a soapy camera). My images are no where near as good as Heeks’ but I still quite pleased with them and I’m determined to keep trying.
