My younger sister threw her daughter a birthday party recently, making the creative cake and cupcakes herself. There were sweets, a giant bouncy castle and good company, and to top things off, the weather on the day was great too . Here’s some of the photos I took. Can you guess the theme?
We all had a lovely day and my niece had lots of fun and was exhausted long before the party’s end. I hope she has a long healthy life ahead, and that I get to spend lots more time with her.
My recent trip to the farm was fun and interesting and once my family and I had seen all the animals we headed over to my sister’s house to get some rest and some delicious food. Once we were all fed and relaxed it was time to cut the birthday cake my sister had made for her daughter. Weeks of preparation had gone into making the cake and the end result was brilliant. It was colourful, fun and neatly fitted into the theme of the day; animals.
My sister made all the animal cake figures from scratch as well as the cake and the matching cupcakes. I love all the details of the animals and how the rest of the table was tied in with animal toys scattered around the table and animal characters on the cups, plates and napkins.
Once the candle was lit and blown out by the birthday girl we all tucked in, and enjoyed a cake that tasted as good as it looked.
I wish the birthday girl good health, happiness and love for all the years ahead of her.
Two of nieces happen to have their birthdays on the same day, which was last week, so over the weekend we all got together for good food, presents, fun, and delicious fresh cream, strawberry and chocolate cake.
It was my niece’s first birthday recently, and her mum (my younger sister) decided to throw her a birthday bash. The theme, in case, you haven’t guessed, was a very girly, pretty, ‘pink’. My sister, who is very talented in making cakes, made a beautiful birthday cake with matching cupcakes and biscuits, and if that wasn’t enough, she also had a sweet table with all things sugary and pink too.
I thought the cake was lovely; I especially liked the ruffles in different shades and the sparkly tiara as a finishing touch.
My niece received lots of presents and birthday cards from loved ones, and seemed to thoroughly enjoy her party. I pray that she has a happy, healthy, long life ahead of her.
It was my brother’s birthday recently so his wife and my sister decided to make him a cake, but not just any cake; a rainbow cake. (and I did my bit of course – babysitting!). They took inspiration from the Hummingbord rainbow cake which looks amazing.
First they made the batter like normal (sorry not a great photo)
Then they mixed the batter with various colours of food colouring, adding more or less depending on how rich they wanted the colours to come out
Then putting them in the baking tins and spreading the batter evenly
Once cooked leave them to cool
Then the fun part-layering the different colours of the cake with icing or in this case low-fat cream cheese for the butter-cream icing holding it all together
Then just cover the whole cake in the icing and decorate as you like. All that is left is to chill and serve.
The cake is fairly easy to make, looks great and tastes delicious. For the recipe see here and you can see my sister’s write up of her baking skills here
